The Ruckus Q&A

Band name:
The Ruckus.

Where are you from?
We're from a small town in West Yorkshire called Halifax.

Who is in your band?
Greg Grieson - vox
Patrick Scully - guitars, backing vox
James Carolan - guitars
Darren Harper - bass
Jack Spencer - drums

How would you describe yourselves?
Take your favourite bands, their debut sound, their attitude and rawness. Drop it in a pot, shake it, stir it. That gets you close to where were at, a little bit of familiarity but a whole heap of excitement discovering something new.

Who are your main influences musically?
Influences range from The Beatles, Oasis, Stereophonics, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, The Jam, Reverend And The Makers, The Streets, The Music, Marvin Gaye, Eminem, Stevie Wonder, Motown, The Sixties.

What do you hope to achieve in music?
Just to make really good, catchy music. Bit of a cliche to say to make people happy but, that's what you want as a song writer. Well, either that or to make people think. Enjoyment, entertainment and to be seen as another avenue away from pop music.

What has been the highlight of your career so far, and why?
Highlight so far? Hmmm... There's been a few. But when you get chosen for BBC shows and your musics aired nationally, That's pretty cool. Then you get to work with people you respect, be that perform alongside or record with. Its all good.

And what’s the moment you want to forget?
Can't really think of any.... But you kinda need them! So you learn and don't do them again.

If you had to pick just one of your songs to represent your music, what would it be and why?
Ohh this is really hard to do. See we ain't the type of band to write one good tune, then replicate that by having a 7 song set where all the songs sound the same. You get that so, so much... Too many bands play it safe. But top of my head I'd say "You Only Like Me Coz I'm In A Band!"

Where can we listen to it?
www.soundcloud.com/the-ruckus-band is our main song hosting site.

Where can we find out more about your music?

Anything else you’d like to say about your band/music that I forgot to ask?
Nope, I think you've covered all the bases. All I'd ask is that people go check out the music, leave comments and engage with us. Come to a show, after all it's why bands do this. But yeah, I'd say check our music out as it's diverse enough to keep you entertained.
